Kattia Romero

SECRETARY

Kattia Romero is currently studying at Montgomery College in Maryland, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As Kattia continues her education, she’s diving into many areas of study such as finance, management, and marketing.

As a first-generation daughter from an immigrant family, Kattia has made it her mission to grow professionally, mentally, and emotionally in order to reach her full potential.

In 2014, Kattia immigrated from Honduras along with her mother, and without a dime to their name, Kattia made it her goal to focus on her education while her mother provided for their family. Throughout her secondary school years, she was an introvert, insecure of her language and unsure of her future - a young girl surrounded by the harsh reality of a world where many women were underrepresented. She sought guidance and joined Dream It, Be It in 2018. The program provided career support for girls by giving them the tools they need to achieve their education, career goals, and self-empowerment. With her newly gained knowledge and confidence, she acquired her first job as a restaurant cashier - which developed her interest in finance. She also joined a Business, Management & Finance Academy (BMF), and was recruited to a scholar group called the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success(ACES) program which continues to help her thrive in college today. Kattia was able to incorporate her developed skills and bilingual abilities into what was becoming her career path.

In 2021, while handling her responsibilities with school and work, she received various opportunities, including an internship at Casa Florentino Real Estate Co. where she became a mentee to the broker, Jackie Legend, and collaborated with other interns. Kattia learned the basics of residential real estate and learned to develop promotional pieces to share throughout several social media platforms. With that experience, she became intrigued with marketing. In June of 2021, Kattia graduated from high school, received her certification from the BMF Academy, and was awarded the Pontius Ward Scholarship, and Dream It, Be It Scholarship.

Kattia is committed to creating a change and empowering those in similar conditions as her. Being appointed as Secretary for Jackie Legend Foundation, she provides invaluable contributions in constructing an environment where children, teens, and young adults are provided with a pathway where they can explore various opportunities and achievements, and with the Jackie Legend Foundation, she believes that is certainly possible.
